As a seasoned gamer and a passionate fan of the ‘Alien’ franchise, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and nostalgia when it comes to Daniels, the resilient protagonist from ‘Alien: Covenant.’ With each passing year, my hope for her survival grows stronger, much like a xenomorph in its cocoon.

In 2012, the ‘Alien’ series ventured into the past with the debut of ‘Prometheus.’ This movie takes us on a journey as a team of researchers and adventurers set out to explore a far-off planet, following cryptic hints that hinted at our own species being engineered by an extraterrestrial race known as the Engineers.

In the sequel ‘Alien: Covenant’, the story unfolds following these occurrences. A spacecraft named Covenant is dispatched on a journey to an isolated planet for establishing a new human colony. Upon arrival, they find what appears to be an ideal location for colonization; however, it swiftly becomes clear that this world harbors a lethal alien race and the surviving artificial entity from ‘Prometheus’, David.

During their exploration, the team faces off against chilling alien beings, requiring them to battle ruthlessly just to stay alive. The movie concludes with David seizing power, hinting at even greater terrors lurking ahead.

2021’s ‘Alien: Romulus’ failed to advance the narrative further, instead choosing to focus on the franchise’s future development rather than creating more prequels. Consequently, the outcomes for several characters, such as Daniels portrayed by Katherine Waterston, remained unresolved.

Through her significant role, she emerges as a pivotal player in the struggle for life against the lethal xenomorphs and David. In the final moments of the film, David, disguised as Walter, puts Daniels into a state of suspended animation and stores her within an escape pod. The outcome of her journey remains uncertain.

Katherine Waterson has shared her thoughts on her character’s fate with Inverse, expressing a preference for believing that her character made it through the journey safely inside the pod.
