Funny powerhouse duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are back in action, this time gracing the screens with their newest Apple TV+ series titled “The Studio”. Known for its witty humor, this satirical comedy boasts an impressive roster of well-known actors.
On Rogen’s show, well-known figures from the world of Hollywood acting and directing make an appearance. The series revolves around Matt Remick, a character played by Rogen, who is in a high position at fictional Continental Studios. After his longtime mentor is forced out as studio head, Remick positions himself to take over the top spot, following instructions from the CEO, portrayed by Bryan Cranston, known for his quick wit.
However, Remick’s passion for authentic, indie-style filmmaking contradicts the studio’s focus on blockbuster productions. In the chaotic landscape of Hollywood, he and his creative team grapple with maintaining artistic honesty while catering to the financial demands of the industry.
The series boasts an impressive lineup of prominent guest actors, all diving deep into the show’s humorous examination of the political landscape within the Hollywood film industry. Spanning 10 episodes, this production tells the story of a classic Hollywood studio grappling with the challenges of maintaining artistic integrity amidst growing business complexities, as encapsulated by its tagline: “Chronicles a historic Hollywood movie studio’s struggle to thrive in an era where art and commerce must coexist.
The lineup features Martin Scorsese, Catherine O’Hara, Anthony Mackie, Charlize Theron, Zac Efron, Ron Howard, Zoë Kravitz, Dave Franco, Josh Hutcherson, Nicholas Stoller, David Krumholtz, Johnny Knoxville, and Olivia Wilde. Additionally, the series highlights Kathryn Hahn (from Agatha All Along) as Maya, Chase Sui Wonders (known for Bodies Bodies Bodies) as Quinn, and Ike Barinholtz (from Blockers) as Sal Seperstein – these individuals are part of Remick’s team.
Instead of Franco’s mind-bending escapades, there are unexpected brawls featuring Howard, and these celebrity appearances enhance the quirky comedy that thrives on Rogen and Goldberg’s sharp humor.
Initially showcased at the SXSW Film & TV Festival 2025, the Studio garnered excitement due to its witty and insightful humor about the entertainment industry. The initial two episodes became available on Apple TV+ on March 26, with fresh episodes dropping each Wednesday.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have produced a number of hilarious films, such as Superbad (2007), Pineapple Express (2008), and This Is the End (2013). These are just a few examples of their work.
