Selena Gomez Says She Didn’t Get To ‘Spend Enough Time’ Being An Actor; Reveals THIS Funny Misunderstanding About Emilia Perez

As an ardent fan who has watched Selena Gomez grow from a Disney darling to a versatile artist, I can’t help but feel a pang of empathy for her longing to fully immerse herself in acting. With nearly two decades under her belt in Hollywood, she’s proven time and again that she’s more than just a pretty face or a melodious voice.

For quite some time now, Selena Gomez has built a substantial career in both Hollywood’s acting world and the music industry. From the beginning of her professional journey, she gained recognition for taking on principal roles in Disney productions, all while furthering her aspirations as a vocalist.

For almost twenty years, the singer behind “Love On” has found herself surrounded by stardom. She feels that music remains a constant companion in her life. However, despite this, she yearns for more opportunities to delve into acting.

During a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Gomez opened up about different facets of her acting journey and how the experience of working on Emilia Perez has contributed to her professional growth.

In her 2020 interview, the star of Only Murders in the Building expressed to the media that she deeply desires to act in both movies and TV shows. She often feels too young or finds it challenging for people to distinguish her real self from her characters, which can be disappointing for her. However, she persists with auditions, waiting patiently for when her opportunity arises.

In a recent conversation with THR, the actress was questioned about a past statement, and Gomez explained that she’s had a long-standing dream of becoming an actress. She stated, “Music will forever be part of me, but I didn’t have the opportunity to fully explore the profession I initially aimed for.

She also mentioned, “I’ve been quite calculated and putting in my best effort to choose projects that are intriguing, not just what people might expect from me. That’s something I find exhilarating. However, with Emilia, I genuinely believed it would be a film primarily released in France.

Regarding Emilia Perez, it’s been announced that Gomez will portray Jessi Del Monte. Meanwhile, Karla Sofia Gascon has been cast as the main character, Emilia Perez.

The plot of the film revolves around a Mexican lawyer who takes up the job to help a cartel boss. The movie is directed by Jacques Audiard.

The film will be available to stream on Netflix.
