As a die-hard fan since the golden days of Wizards of Waverly Place, I can’t help but feel like my childhood dreams are coming true! The news of Selena Gomez and David Henrie reprising their iconic roles as Alex and Justin Russo in the much-anticipated spinoff, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, has sent me straight back to the magic and wonder that this show brought into my life.

Selena Gomez recently opened up about the Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff, titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. She revealed how her return was a bit like finding one’s way back home, for she never thought she could play Alex Russo ever again.

In an interview with Variety, Selena Gomez, the founder of Rare Beauty, gleefully shared her feelings during the Hollywood premiere of season 4 of Only Murders in the Building. She mentioned that playing Alex Russo once more felt like returning home and expressed joy over getting to share this childhood talent with a new generation of young fans.

Gomez shared with the media that she’s incredibly excited to breathe new life into this classic character, a role which now resonates with a completely fresh generation.

As a devoted fan following in the footsteps, I’m thrilled to share that David Henrie, revisiting his character Justin Russo, employs the very same wand from the original series. This creative concept, as he explains, was birthed from countless conversations with Gomez over the years, where we’d often ponder what our characters would have evolved into today. He shared with the media outlet that it took years of meticulous development to perfect the new show just right.

After making the decision, the Russo siblings chose to share their project with Disney, as it was born from their deep affection for the original series which continues to have a dedicated fanbase. Henrie commented, “To this day, Selena is frequently asked about ‘Wizards.’ It’s a show that holds significant importance for many people.”

David Henrie expressed that reconnecting with Selena Gomez on set was an otherworldly experience. He mentioned that, even though it’s been 12 years since the original show concluded, working together felt as if no time had passed at all. The upcoming spinoff comedy series titled “Wizards Beyond Waverly” is planned to debut in 2024 on both Disney Channel and Disney Plus.
