SEGA Confirms Sonic and More for Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Day on June 5

Once again, Sonic makes his return, swifter than ever! SEGA has declared that SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS will be among the inaugural games to debut on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, which is set for release on June 5, 2025. Enthusiasts of Sonic, Shadow, and timeless side-scrolling action can anticipate thrilling new journeys, boasting improved visuals on the upgraded console.

However, it’s important to note that Sonic isn’t the lone highlight for the launch day. Additionally, SEGA unveiled two more titles set for release on the same day: Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S.

In two weeks’ time, starting from June 19, 2025, another exciting game called RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army will be available. Additionally, SEGA’s engaging museum simulator, Two Point Museum, is expected to launch later in the year.

Here’s a quick look at what’s coming:

  • SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS – Coming June 5, this game mixes gameplay from Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Shadow. It will feature improved visuals made just for the Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut – Also launching June 5, this version adds new story scenes, an online multiplayer mode called “Red Light Raid,” and English voice acting for the first time.
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S – The popular puzzle game returns on June 5 with new features like a special “Puyo Tetris Doubles” mode. Players can also try new ways to play using the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.
  • RAIDOU Remastered – This updated version of the classic game comes out on June 19, 2025. It brings the story of the Soulless Army to a new generation.

Pre-orders for all four of these games begin April 24, 2025, in both physical and digital formats.
