Kit Harington and Sophie Turner, known for playing siblings on Game of Thrones, are now co-stars in a new horror film called The Dreadful, which hits theaters on February 20th. While fans are excited to see them work together again, switching from playing brother and sister to romantic partners proved surprisingly difficult for the actors. A recent behind-the-scenes clip from Entertainment Tonight showed the pair playfully pretending to be sick after filming a kissing scene. Sophie Turner, who also produced the film, has openly admitted that kissing her friend felt unpleasant, even describing it as “vile” and “the worst.”
Kit Harington described a similar feeling in an interview with E! News, saying the change in his and Rose Leslie’s on-screen relationship felt really strange as soon as he read the script. He joked that filming was physically awkward too, as he had to stand on a box to match her height.
Despite feeling embarrassed at first, Harington explained that their friendship actually grew much stronger while filming, which made the challenging scenes easier and more fun. The movie, directed by Natasha Kermani, is a dark and intense story about loneliness and past trauma, set during the 15th-century Wars of the Roses.
Sophie Turner plays Anne, a woman living a quiet, secluded life with her mother-in-law (played by Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden). Their peaceful existence is disrupted when Harington’s character, Jago, returns from the war and unleashes a series of frightening, supernatural occurrences.

Since Game of Thrones ended in 2019, both Kit Harington and Sophie Turner have experienced big changes in their lives and careers. Harington has been juggling fatherhood with his role on the fourth season of Industry, where he plays a complex character named Henry Muck.
Turner has also been very busy, recently landing the lead role as Lara Croft in Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series, which is being produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She also starred in the thriller Trust, and jokingly said that filming a scene covered in rats was easier than kissing Harington on Game of Thrones. Beyond acting, Turner continues to be a prominent figure in the fashion world, often representing Louis Vuitton at events around the globe.
This is the first project Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke have collaborated on since the final episode of Game of Thrones almost seven years ago. Although both actors have said they won’t be returning to the Game of Thrones universe—Harington recently confirmed he’s not interested in a Jon Snow spin-off—their strong on-screen connection shows they’re prepared to move on from their roles as the Starks.
