SEC’s Crypto Roundtables: More Talk, Less Action in 2025!

Ah, the SEC—ever the masters of the artful dodge—have announced not one, not two, but four more roundtable events in 2025. Because, darling, what’s a regulatory body without a good chinwag about crypto assets? 🎭

According to their latest press release (which I’m sure was written with the same flair as a tax form), the agency plans to add these riveting discussions to their calendar. Topics include crypto custody, tokenization of real-world assets, and DeFi. Because nothing says “progress” like a room full of suits debating blockchain over lukewarm coffee. ☕

Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, the head of the Crypto Task Force, chimed in with her usual optimism: “The Crypto Task Force roundtables are an opportunity for us to hear a lively discussion among experts about what the regulatory issues are and what the Commission can do to solve them.” Translation: “We’ll talk about it until everyone forgets why we’re here.”

The Crypto Task Force, launched earlier this year by Acting Chair Mark Uyeda, is a delightful ensemble of regulators, lawyers, and crypto executives. Think of it as a dinner party where everyone’s arguing over the bill. 🍽️

Peirce, a longtime crypto enthusiast, added: “The formation of the Crypto Task Force gave permission to staff in the building to work earnestly towards a workable framework for crypto regulation, and staff have responded with palpable enthusiasm…” Palpable enthusiasm? Darling, I’ve seen more excitement at a DMV. 🚗

She continued: “People have been talking, thinking, and writing about the issues with which we are now wrestling. The roundtable series will allow us to explore the issues collaboratively.” Collaborative exploration? Sounds like a fancy way to say “more meetings.” 🕰️
