As a dedicated viewer, I can’t help but express my excitement about the latest series that Netflix has introduced – “Secrets We Keep“. This captivating show has been a hot topic among us viewers, particularly with its gripping finale episode.
The program ended with a lingering mystery: Who might have been responsible for Ruby Tan’s murder? Although the show doesn’t explicitly reveal it, the most recent episode seems to hint at the possible culprit.
Ruby Tan, a young Filipino au pair, vanishes from an affluent neighborhood situated north of Copenhagen. In the series, she confides in Cecille, a nearby resident, about her fear and discomfort with her host family. Cecile encourages her to discuss these concerns directly with her employers.
Ruby mysteriously disappears, and later her body is found at a marina. During the ensuing investigation, an unexpected turn in the plot unfolds: Ruby was pregnant. Initially, suspicion fell on Rasmus Hoffman, the head of the household where she worked. However, after DNA testing, it was determined that he wasn’t the father of the unborn child. Shockingly, it is then disclosed that his underage son, Oscar Hoffman, is the father of Ruby’s child.
Towards the end, Cecile consoles Katarina, Oscar’s mother, following the revelation of the truth. While Katarina doesn’t explicitly admit her guilt, neither does she deny it when implicated in Ruby’s death. At one point, she subtly hints at possible involvement with, “What if I had?
I can’t help but tremble at Katarina’s words, as they echo with a sense of maternal protection. It seems she instilled in her child the resilience to “stand up for what’s rightfully his,” leaving me utterly awestruck by Cecile’s unwavering dedication.
Oscar escapes any repercussions for his behavior, while his family moves forward with their daily lives. The series implies that Katarina could have committed a heinous act, but without sufficient proof, the killer of Ruby remains unidentified, and her death is ultimately classified as suicide.
