As a devoted fan, I find Sebastian Stan‘s journey from portraying Donald Trump to embodying Bucky Barnes absolutely captivating! His ability to seamlessly transition between such contrasting characters, each requiring unique physical and emotional transformations, is nothing short of extraordinary.
Sebastian Stan had difficulties transitioning from shooting as Donald Trump in The Apprentice to taking on the role of Bucky Barnes in Thunderbolts.
After wrapping up the Ali Abbasi production set to release on October 11, the actor shared his continued interest in emulating Trump’s behaviors during Thunderbolts filming. He mentioned that at certain instances and for specific scenes, he found himself subconsciously drawing upon characters he had previously played.
Stan expressed to The Hollywood Reporter, “While filming, I’d occasionally do something and exclaim, ‘Wow! This feels incredibly real.’
Stan’s portrayal of Trump has become widely recognized by the public, largely due to extensive media attention. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his performance went beyond mere impression and truly embodied the character, which is a testament to Stan’s exceptional acting skills.
The extra duties demanded only complicated the issues Stan faced. Before participating in The Apprentice, he opted for a diet consisting of Coca-Cola and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which caused him to gain weight. Consequently, it became challenging for him to regain the physique needed for a superhero body.
During the writers’ strikes, filming schedules faced additional challenges, causing delays and necessitating Stan to adapt his physique for the characters on multiple occasions. He openly discussed the struggles he encountered with body transformation, particularly as he approaches his forties. Notably, he shared his dedication to achieving the physique required for the Thunderbolts superhero role.
In May 2025, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film directed by Jake Schreier and penned by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calo will hit the screens. This upcoming production boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Geraldine Viswanathan, Wyatt Russell, Wendell Edward Pierce, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Chris Bauer, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
