Aubrey O’Day, a previous protege of Sean “Diddy” Combs and frontwoman for Danity Kane, has made it clear that she won’t be providing testimony in Diddy’s ongoing sex trafficking trial. This statement comes after much discussion and media reports suggesting a possible subpoena, triggered by her recent Instagram post from New York and her past outspoken criticisms of the hip-hop entrepreneur.
In the first episode of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’s iHeartRadio podcast discussing the ongoing trial, O’Day clarified some rumors directly. “No, I’m not here to provide testimony for the Diddy trial as far as I’m aware,” she stated. “I did meet with Homeland Security, but I’m not going to testify.
The misunderstanding occurred when O’Day shared a video from New York on May 14 with the caption, “Hi New York! Which courtroom should I visit first?” followed by a judicial emoji, causing followers to assume she was planning to attend a court hearing.
In recent times, O’Day, who rose to prominence on MTV’s “Making the Band 3” in 2005 and later signed with Bad Boy Records owned by Diddy, has been vocal about her criticisms towards him. Previously, she described his indictment as a victory for women, and she has publicly shown solidarity with alleged victims, such as Cassie Ventura, who is a crucial witness in the prosecution’s case.
Discussing Cassie’s testimony, which detailed traumatic experiences of being compelled to participate in “Freak Offs” throughout their ten-year relationship, O’Day commented, “It feels incredibly truthful. It feels incredibly open, raw, and terrifying.” She also commended Ventura for her growth, stating, “Seeing her emerge from this and view it differently fills me with pride.
In her testimony, O’Day pointed out a concerning text message exchange between Cassie and Diddy that she found troubling. She explained, “She said, ‘You don’t want to act crazy now. You’re so predictable.’ This is a comment often made by individuals who are grooming someone,” she noted.
Despite not testifying, Aubrey O’Day actively follows the trial and expresses her support for those speaking against Diddy. Her observations enrich our understanding of the intricate and ongoing legal dispute that has stirred the music industry. As the hearing proceeds, attention is fixed on the courtroom, with the increasing number of voices speaking out adding to the anticipation.
