As a lifestyle expert with a rich background in popular culture and entertainment, I am thrilled about the return of “Futurama” for its 12th season and the exciting casting news regarding Kwanzaa-Bot. Having been a longtime fan of both “Futurama” and Method Man’s illustrious career, I believe this decision is a brilliant move that will bring a fresh and dynamic energy to the beloved character.
1. In its 12th season, Futurama brings back John DiMaggio suggesting Method Man as the new voice actor for the cherished Kwanzaa-Bot, a role originally played by rapper Coolio. Prior to his passing in 2022, Coolio had recorded lines for the character. The show also honored the late ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ artist in a tribute.
Recently, in an interview with ComicBook, John DiMaggio mentioned that Method Man would be an excellent fit for this role. With his impressive background in shows like The Deuce, Oz, and The Wire under his belt, he’s no stranger to being in the spotlight. Excitingly, a revival of the series has been brought back by Hulu, set to premiere on July 24, 2023 with an initial run of 20 episodes. Further seasons are planned to air through 2026!
Kwanzaa-Bot in Futurama
John DiMaggio shared that he suggested Method Man for the role of Kwanzaa-Bot during San Diego Comic-Con’s panel. “Let me make this clear,” DiMaggio stated. “All I want is Method Man as Kwanzaa-Bot. I haven’t been able to express this publicly before, but I brought it up during the panel and I don’t believe everyone heard me. So, yes…I approached him directly and proposed that he take on the character of Kwanzaa-Bot.”
1. During the series, Kwanzaa-Bot acts much like Robot Santa Claus and the Chanukah Zombie do. He journeys through Kwanzaa festivities, distributing traditional Kwanzaa literature. In Coolio’s last portrayal of this character, Kwanzaa-Bot delivered a rap number, a spoof of the 12 Days of Christmas, expressing his wishes to Santa Bot for Christmas.
About Method Man
Method Man, or Clifford Smith Jr., well recognized by his stage name, is an American hip hop artist famously associated with the East Coast group Wu-Tang Clan. As a Grammy award winner, he has also ventured into acting, appearing in movies such as Keanu (2016) and The Cobbler (2014). Although his involvement in the upcoming season remains unconfirmed, given his track record of guest appearances, we eagerly anticipate further updates on Futurama!
