Introduction
Instead of many lists I’ve encountered before, I will take some time to explain the rationale behind each item’s arrangement.
In terms of numerical performance, I don’t see a substantial difference between Mobile Suits (MS) that perform similar roles like debuffing or dealing raw damage. However, when it comes to the S and A tier, the main variation will be based on Terrain Compatibility rather than raw performance. The S Tier includes MS that are high-performing across all terrains, with a particular emphasis on Air Compatibility. For new accounts searching for Ultimate Rare (UR) units that can be used in a wide variety of maps, I place more importance on Terrain Compatibility than many other lists do.
In simpler terms, a Tier-2 unit generally performs nearly as well as a top-tier unit in most situations, but may not be equally effective on 3 out of 5 types of terrain or possess certain characteristics that make it slightly less efficient compared to the top tier. Keep in mind these suggestions can evolve as we continue learning about the game’s mechanics.
In the B Tier, the units are functional, but often come with factors that make them difficult to employ effectively in many situations, most commonly due to challenging terrains.
Unit Overview – Defenders
Gundam (EX)
Gundam (EX) stands alone as the presently top-tier Defender, excelling in combat situations beyond its Combat Power due to an exceptional arsenal of tools. Compared to other Defenders, it boasts the most effective kit for exceeding its weight class. Moreover, among the three Ultra Rare Defenders, it offers the strongest debuff set. With Level 6 Decrease ATK against single targets for 47 Energy (EN) and Level 4 Decreased MOB for 27 EN, this debuff setup enables other units to effectively target high-evasion enemies. This energy cost arrangement is also the lowest among the Defenders. Although Amuro lacks a self-healing pilot skill like Jona or Mikazuki, he possesses Sway, which ensures an evade for a single hit. However, it’s worth noting that Amuro does not have the +1 Support Defense bonus on his EX Character Ability, which is a disadvantage compared to other Defenders.
Gundam Barbatos 6th Form (EX)
In simpler terms, the Barbatos 6th Form is considered a B-tier unit compared to Gundam (EX). The Barbatos focuses more on dealing damage and has a physical type, while the Gundam (EX) has special abilities such as Sway and MOB Down. However, the Barbatos compensates by having self-healing capabilities and a 20% critical hit rate when piloted. Although both units are viable, Gundam EX has access to rarer skills like Sway and MOB Down at the moment, making it slightly more favored in rankings.
Narrative Gundam A-Packs (EX)
As a devoted player, I must admit that A-Packs seems to struggle significantly on diverse terrains in the game. It excels in Space terrain, has a decent performance in Air terrain, but unfortunately, it’s completely unsuitable for any other type of terrain. Its ATK Down debuff is linked to a 60 EN MAP skill, which makes it challenging to consistently apply across turns. To add to this, its ACC Down debuff is associated with a 50 EN skill, resulting in a rather poor debuff uptime due to the high Energy Neutron costs. Even with Jona’s Save EN LV4, the energy costs for one turn are 48 and 40, which can be quite demanding.
Unit Overview – Attackers
00 Exia
Exia, the versatile attacker, functions optimally across all terrains except water. It boasts the simplest methods to counteract damage modifiers, with enhanced weapon power and higher hit points during Trans-Am mode and increased close-range weapon power on EX. Interestingly, it shares this feature with only one other Mobile Suit. However, its range is somewhat limited, featuring a single 4-range attack, two 3-range attacks, and a melee within 1 range. What sets Exia apart is that Setsuna, its pilot, begins with 6 MP points and can utilize 3 SP points to augment his MP by an additional 6. This instantly positions him for Supercharged status, granting a 30% boost in damage dealt.
Sazabi (EX)
Sazabi, like the other Attacker, possesses Chance Step+1 and enhanced weapon power, but its funnels have lower HP and increased long-range weapon power in its EX. This higher weapon power can be challenging to utilize effectively when aiming for decisive blows with Chance Step. In contrast to Exia, it struggles on terrain that isn’t solid ground, but it makes up for this with a greater range advantage. It boasts two 5-range attacks that can extend to 6 ranges with Char’s Boost Range, enabling it to attack targets without retaliation due to its extended reach. However, Sazabi is not deployable on Sea or Air maps, which poses a significant limitation.
Crossbone Gundam X1 Custom (EX)
Crossbone X1 caters to experienced gamblers due to its focus on Critical Damage (CRIT) buffs instead of standard Damage and Weapon Power enhancements. The key is landing CRITs because Crossbone is packed with CRIT Damage bonuses.
– Its primary weapon has a 5% CRIT rate and a +25% CRIT Damage boost, while its EX ability offers a 20% CRIT rate and a +35% CRIT Damage multiplier.
– The goal is to activate Kincade’s Boost Critical, which increases the CRIT Rate by 40% for one turn, hoping to score CRITs on both attacks. However, frequent use of Sway might be limited due to the heavy investment in Boost Critical, as most of your SP (Skill Points) is allocated towards it.
– Crossbone X1 boasts compatibility with three full terrains: Space, Air, and Land, and middle compatibility with Underwater, making it usable in most maps. Unfortunately, its performance can be inconsistent due to the reliance on CRITs, which may not always go as planned. This is why it falls short of earning an S rank.
Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode) (EX)
As a devoted fan, I’d say the Unicorn Gundam is generally a solid Attacker, neither underwhelming nor extraordinary. It shares some common ground with the Sazabi, notably terrain coverage challenges, but it lacks Sazabi’s extensive range advantage and other unique abilities. Unlike Setsuna’s Nu Gundam, Unicorn doesn’t have the Vigor boost, and it doesn’t possess the terrain adaptability of X1 or Exia. Unlike X1, it doesn’t benefit from high roll potential through CRITs either. It’s a Mobile Suit that can get the job done, but it doesn’t stand out in any particular area.
Striker Custom (EX)
The Striker Custom is somewhat less capable than the Unicorn, with generally shorter attack range, a lower base Critical Hit damage skill attack (10% compared to 25%), and an EX skill that boosts Weapon Power but comes with lower HP and isn’t solely Close Range. Instead of Beam Defense, it provides Physical Damage Reduction. Piloted by Ittou, it offers the advantage of using both Sway and Lock On skills.
Gundam EZ8
The EZ8 is a decent combat unit but struggles significantly with terrain adaptability, functioning optimally on land, moderately in space, and not at all for air or sea deployments. Unlike Sazabi, Shiro’s EZ8 does not possess any 5-range weapons, limiting its ability to engage targets from long distances as effectively as Sazabi. However, it boasts beneficial stat boosts for Attack and Weapon Power when at high Health, Long Range, etc. If equipped with 5-range weapons, it might have been strong enough to escape a B rank evaluation.
Unit Overview – Supports
Gundam Aerial (EX)
This unit, named Aerial, is versatile, boasting full compatibility for environments like Space, Air, and Land, as well as moderate compatibility with Underwater. Unfortunately, it’s not deployable in Sea. Aerial wields a 4-range Beam Damage Debuff attack and a 5-range Defense Down EX, both of which come with Beam Damage Resist. Moreover, Suletta, the operator of Aerial, provides Boost Range, enabling you to launch over-range Defense Down attacks at a distance of 6, ensuring your safety against potential counters.
Phoenix Gundam (Power Unleashed) (EX)
Despite having more severe debuffs compared to Aerial and Le Cygne, Phoenix is given a ranking of S due to the unique ability of Mark Guilder to heal a squad by 5% of their maximum health each turn when he’s present with Phoenix. The debuffs associated with Phoenix are linked to weapons that have a range of 5, making them effective against enemies without the ability to counter at this range, even if Mark lacks Boost Range. Additionally, Phoenix restores its own health by 10% at the start of each turn, enabling it to sustain minor injuries without significant impact on its performance. The primary drawback is that Phoenix has Level 4 Increased Beam Damage on Feather Funnel and Level 6 Increased Physical Damage on Burning Fire Assault, but lacks a DEF Down or unconditional damage debuff.
Le Cygne (EX)
In simpler terms, the character Le Cygne is less efficient than Aerial in terms of area coverage and damage debuff, as its debuff is linked to a map attack that consumes 50 energy points. However, it has a 5 range Defense Down EX that costs slightly less than what Aerial offers. If you primarily intend to use Defense Down without engaging in extensive actions, Le Cygne could potentially be more effective for you due to Asuna’s EN Recharge LV3, which restores half your energy, and her lower energy cost. Conversely, Suletta has Save EN LV4, but it requires attacking twice during the same turn to achieve a similar value as Recharge.
Freedom Gundam (EX)
In comparison to Le Cygne, Freedom Gundam excels in traversing various terrains, but it struggles with maintaining debuffs due to the specific conditions attached to its DEF Down attack. Unlike Le Cygne’s Beam Damage, which is tied to a Map Attack (MAP), Freedom Gundam’s DEF Down is associated with a 60 Energy (EN) cost MAP attack. Furthermore, it lacks a single-target debuff attack at a 5 range. However, its Beam Debuff comes with the Absolute Hit advantage. When considering their kits, Le Cygne appears superior, but Freedom Gundam holds its ground due to its terrain capabilities, making them roughly comparable in terms of tier.
Nu Gundam (EX)
From a devoted fan’s perspective, Nu Gundam stands out with its unique characteristics. It can’t be deployed in air or sea, but boasts a lower EN cost and a DEF Down ability at range 5, level 4, which is activated at the cost of 31 EN. This makes it quite effective if you’re frequently using DEF Down.
Its EX Skill is a 5-range attack with enhanced special damage, level 6. However, being a Special Weapon type makes it somewhat challenging to utilize compared to Beam or Projectile types, as Special weapons are less prevalent.
Notably, Amuro also has Boost Range to synergize with Nu Gundam’s 5-range weaponry. While it shows promise as the most affordable means of applying DEF Down, its special weapon-specific debuff and lack of air compatibility place it in the B tier.
UR Supporters (Ships)
It would be wise for you to concentrate on enhancing your Mobile Suit (MS), but if you’re also keen on the UR Supporters (Ships), it’s worth noting that they generally boost MS stats from a particular Series, such as Gundam or Wing Gundam. I won’t suggest them explicitly because their effectiveness is usually clear based on the series they belong to.
In certain games, some ships aren’t buffed based on their series, but instead by a category they are assigned. Given the suggested Ultimate Rare (UR) ships for rerolling and the UR ships we currently have, if you’re keen on obtaining an UR ship, I suggest going for one of these options:
Based on certain games, not all ships receive buffs based on their series. Instead, they are categorized by the game itself. Taking into account the recommended Ultimate Rare (UR) ships for rerolling and the UR ships we currently possess, if you’re eager to get an UR ship, I recommend choosing one of these:
Unstoppable
Marina Ismail & Ptolemaios 2 (HP Recovery)
Rain Mikamura & Bud Carrier (EN Restoration)
“Unstoppable” includes 00 Exia, Phoenix Gundam, and Le Cygne
One-Shot-Killer
Tiffa Adill & Freeden (EN Restoration)
One-Shot Killer includes Sazabi, Aerial, Striker Custom, and Freedom
