JD, Turk, and Elliot are now available for duty again. The revival of the show “Scrubs” has been given a green light. To ensure the success of this project, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke have agreed to join Zach Braff once more in the lead roles.
For the 2025-2026 television season, it’s been announced that ABC has greenlit a new installment of the iconic series Scrubs. This news was initially reported by Deadline. Notable actors Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke will reprise their roles as Dr. John Dorian, Dr. Christopher Turk, and Dr. Elliot Reid respectively. In addition to acting, they will also serve as executive producers for the revived Scrubs. The original creator of the series, Bill Lawrence, will also join the team as an executive producer. Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra have been appointed as showrunners for this reboot, having previously worked on the original show that aired at NBC from 2001 to 2010, with its final two seasons airing on ABC. The duo are well-versed in the quirky and imaginative universe of Scrubs.
Regarding the upcoming Scrubs reboot, it seems that fans can anticipate familiar elements with a fresh twist set in an entirely new environment. The show will depict JD and Turk reuniting at Sacred Heart after many years, still maintaining their strong bond of friendship. Interestingly, medicine and interns have evolved, but the heartwarming bromance between these characters remains constant. Additionally, the reboot will stay true to its roots by introducing new interns, yet not limiting itself to just Braff, Faison, and Chalke. Some characters from the original series are also expected to make a comeback in the revamped Scrubs.
We also do not yet have a specific release date for the Scrubs reboot.
Lawrence expressed that “Scrubs” holds immense significance for him, as he’s thrilled about the opportunity to reunite the group once more.
Without a doubt, a reboot of Scrubs wouldn’t be successful unless he managed to reunite the band. The show consistently emphasized that no one can accomplish everything alone.
