The new movie seems to feature at least two deaths happening at Stu Macher’s house – which, like in the original film, is now an Airbnb. Ghostface kills two people before turning their attention to Sidney, who is living in the small town of Pine Grove. When Ghostface calls her, they mention the town feels familiar, hinting that the killer might be from Woodsboro and knows Sidney personally.
After this, the story focuses on Sidney trying to keep her daughter, Tatum, safe while also trying to uncover the identity of the new Ghostface killer. The trailer for Scream 7 briefly shows Gale Weathers teaming up with Sidney again. We also see the Meeks twins, though their role isn’t fully explained. It seems likely they’ll return to Woodsboro and have a dangerous encounter with Ghostface. Tatum will have to find her inner strength and fight, just like her mother.
The most surprising moment in the clip is arguably when Ghostface seems to burn down the Macher house. We also hear Stu’s voice saying, “this is gonna be fun.” However, I don’t think Stu is actually the killer under the mask. I suspect his voice or personality will be used by someone else, possibly due to an obsession with him and the anniversary of the original Woodsboro murders. I also doubt the killer is a local from Woodsboro, unless it’s someone connected to Stu, like his sister Leslie.
Here’s a synopsis from Paramount Pictures for a little more context:
Sidney Prescott, hoping for a peaceful life, finds her past catching up with her when a new Ghostface appears and targets her daughter. To keep her family safe, Sidney is forced to confront the terrifying events of her past and stop the cycle of violence for good.
