We hear Ghostface point out that Tatum is about the same age Sidney was during the first killings, strongly suggesting the killer wants to recreate the past. This also implies the person behind the mask is local and has been planning this for a while. The mention of someone being in a mental hospital brings up the popular fan theory that Stu, a killer from the original movie, is still alive.
This person claims they were once in a relationship with Sidney, but I don’t believe it. They could easily be manipulating Sidney and aren’t being truthful.
The new killer could be someone from Sidney’s past, perhaps a high school classmate still fixated on the original murders. Another possibility is Lesley Macher, Stu’s sister, who tragically lost her son in a previous film. Or, the killer could be part of a group who idolize Stu and Billy. We’ll find out when Scream 7 is released on February 27th.
