Critics praised the film, and under the skillful direction of Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, it had all the makings of a successful venture. However, the sudden exit of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega from the set caused notable disruptions during production.

The delay in releasing Scream VII could unexpectedly boost the franchise. Following Scream VI in 2023 and the departure of two leading actors, Neve Campbell reappears as Randy Meeks, while Sidney Prescott is portrayed once again. Notably, Courtney Cox continues her role as Gale Weathers, keeping her character a constant presence throughout all Scream movies to date.

After preparation, Kevin Williamson is ready to direct Scream 7. Notably, he penned the initial Scream script, along with films such as I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, The Faculty, and Halloween H20.
