Acclaimed science fiction and fantasy author Alan Dean Foster is collaborating with the game studio known as Pomme on a multi-license gaming agreement. The initial project will be a game adapting his renowned novel, “Midworld,” setting the stage for a larger series within the universe of his “HumanX Commonwealth.
Known for writing more than 80 books, including adaptations for films such as Star Wars and Alien, Foster is poised to have a minimum of 14 of his works transformed into video games.
Not only existing but also unreleased tales labeled ‘Alan Dean Foster Presents…’ are part of the collection. The initial video game adaptation from the novel Midworld, to be launched on Steam, is scheduled for 2026 by Sunset Sugar Studios, a subsidiary of Pomme that handles publishing.
During an exchange with GamesBeat, Foster shared his enthusiasm about collaborating closely with the Apple team. He thinks that Midworld, featuring its dense, exotic jungle and intricate ecosystems, is ideally suited for gaming. The storyline aligns exceptionally well with interactive storytelling, making it a significant factor in selecting it as the launching point for this ambitious series.
Darryl Still, who is the founder of Pomme and has a long history in the gaming industry, expressed his excitement about this project. He revealed that Pomme has been working together with renowned artists, such as members from the Cuphead art team, to create the distinctive setting and characters for Midworld.
They’re gathering an elite group to make sure the game accurately reflects the intricate universe that Foster is renowned for creating.
