Scarlett Johansson to Star in Mike Flanagan’s EXORCIST Movie

Things have been amazing for Scarlett Johansson since Avengers: Endgame! She finally got to star in her own Black Widow movie, but that was just the beginning. She’s been nominated for two Oscars, appeared in two Wes Anderson films, and now she’s launching into two new big franchises. This year, she was in Jurassic World: Rebirth, which, while not a direct sequel, felt like a continuation of the Jurassic World story – and it made almost $870 million worldwide! Now, I’m so excited to see her join the new Exorcist series from Blumhouse and Universal. It’s another fresh take on a classic, and I know she’ll be fantastic!

I just read the news – apparently, Johansson is going to be the lead in Mike Flanagan’s new take on The Exorcist! It’s a big relief after that Exorcist: Believer movie last year didn’t really hit the mark and killed any plans for a new trilogy. Thankfully, this new film isn’t connected to that one at all, but it is still set in the same world as the original. We don’t know exactly how it’ll tie into the books by William Peter Blatty yet, but honestly, I’m feeling good about this. Flanagan is amazing at bringing scary stories to the screen, so I have a lot of faith in him!

Flanagan praised Scarlett as a remarkably talented actress, noting that she consistently delivers believable and authentic performances, whether in smaller films or big-budget blockbusters. He expressed his excitement about her joining the cast of the new Exorcist movie.

Mike Flanagan recently finished directing the Amazon MGM Studios TV series based on Stephen King’s first novel, Carrie, and he also wrote the screenplay for the upcoming DCU horror film, Clayface. Both projects are scheduled for release next year. Scarlett Johansson hasn’t focused much on horror throughout her career. Earlier in her career, she appeared in the comedic monster movie Eight Legged Freaks, and in 2013, she starred in the unusual sci-fi film Under the Skin.
