Scarlett Johansson recently fell prey to harmful manipulation by AI technology. The actress appeared in a video created by artificial intelligence, alongside other well-known Jewish personalities, who were portrayed as criticizing Kanye West falsely.
In the widely shared video clip, I’m depicted as the AI representation of the Lucy actress, sporting a white tee adorned with an illustrated hand giving the middle finger and the word “Kanye” beneath it.
The phony video showcases numerous well-known individuals such as Drake, Jake Gyllenhaal, Steven Spielberg, Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Black, Mila Kunis, Lenny Kravitz, Matthew Perry (also known as Davis Schwimmer), and Lisa Kudrow, among others. The clip ends with a digital likeness of Adam Sandler making an obscene gesture using his middle finger.
In the video, a message written in black on a white background reads, “It’s time for change,” and later, “Stand with Us in Combating Antisemitism” appears. Johansson, unwillingly caught up in this situation, expressed her opinion in a statement to People magazine, criticizing “the misappropriation of AI technology, regardless of its content.
Actress Scarlett Johansson, known for playing The Black Widow, became aware of the offensive anti-Semitic video spreading on the internet via her circle of friends and relatives. Being a Jewish woman herself, she strongly condemns any form of anti-Semitism or hate speech.
Yet, she strongly asserts that employing artificial intelligence might escalate hate speech to an extent surpassing human responsibility. Johansson underscored the need for restraint in utilizing AI; otherwise, we could potentially lose our grip on the real world.
Despite her personal experiences as a victim of AI, it’s important to note that numerous individuals encounter its effects on a daily basis. The actress from the Avengers series highlighted that several forward-thinking nations are taking proactive steps in regulating the use of these sophisticated digital systems.
She criticized the U.S. government for being unable to pass tough regulations on AI due to their apparent inaction, emphasizing that they should prioritize the drafting and enactment of legislation restricting AI usage. In her remarks, she urged the government to take action.
