Reports suggest Scarlett Johansson is in discussions to appear in The Batman – Part II. Details about her potential role are being kept under wraps, but sources say she might play a new romantic partner for Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
However, that may not be the whole story.

Role Said To Be Villainous
So, after Nexus Point News first reported the story, Jeff Sneider confirmed it on X – and he threw in a really interesting twist that I hadn’t heard before. It definitely made things a lot more complicated – and exciting, honestly!
According to Sneider, Johansson’s character could begin the story in a romantic relationship with Bruce Wayne, but will later be shown to be a villain.
Sneider notes Johansson has spent the last decade playing the hero, and she’s ready to “break bad.”
Warner Bros. and Matt Reeves are planning to introduce more villains in the next movie, and this kind of unexpected turn would match the dark and gritty style of the first film.
Update: THR confirms and says Johansson is in final negotiations.

What Johansson Brings To The Batman – Part II
Johansson joining the Reeves universe would be a big addition.
After spending years as Black Widow in Marvel films, she’s now looking for more challenging and intense roles – she recently landed a part in the new Exorcist movie. Reeves’ realistic take on Gotham City would allow her to portray a character who is cunning and threatening.
Neither Warner Bros. nor Scarlett Johansson’s team have officially confirmed anything, but reports suggest discussions are happening, and the character she’d play would significantly affect Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

The Batman Sequel Status
Work is underway on The Batman – Part II as director Matt Reeves continues to develop his vision for Gotham City. While casting news has been kept under wraps, there are signs that things are starting to progress.
If Johansson signs on, expect an official announcement to drop fast.
The Batman – Part II films in January and gets released in theaters on October 1, 2027.
