Scarlett Johansson Admits Dating Non-Actors Led to Jealousy: ‘They Didn’t Get My On-Screen…’

Scarlett Johansson discusses the distinct difficulties she encountered when dating non-entertainment professionals, such as feelings of jealousy stemming from her screen romances.

In a chat with actor David Harbour, known for roles in Stranger Things and Thunderbolts, published in Interview magazine on June 10th, Johansson explained her tendency to date within Hollywood. She mentioned that past significant relationships outside the industry often left her partners struggling to grasp the unique demands of her profession.

In my personal experience, I’ve been in deep connections with individuals outside my profession, and one of the hurdles I encountered was that they were clueless about the tasks I had to carry out for my work. To illustrate, if I were dating a doctor specializing in oncology, I wouldn’t expect them to understand the intricacies of my job. However, in my line of work, it’s not as abstract or easily explained as a medical profession might be.

Johansson, who’s married to Colin Jost, a star on Saturday Night Live, pointed out that dating someone in the same profession fosters a deeper comprehension. She has a 3-year-old son, Cosmo, with Jost and a 10-year-old daughter, Rose, from her earlier marriage to French journalist Romain Dauriac. In simpler terms, Johansson mentioned that it’s beneficial to date someone who works in the same profession as hers because it helps both understand each other better. She also has a 3-year-old son with Jost and a 10-year-old daughter from her previous marriage to a French journalist named Romain Dauriac.

Why is it hard to date outside the industry?

Scarlett Johansson mentioned that feelings of romantic jealousy frequently arose when her partner wasn’t accustomed to how actors function. She also pointed out that it’s relatively simple for a lot of jealousy to be stirred up when someone isn’t part of the entertainment industry because actors, by their very nature, are free-spirited individuals who form close, intimate relationships with their coworkers.

She noted that they can remain faithful to a partner while being deeply involved in various other types of relationships as well. She suggested that for some individuals, the boundary between these relationships might not always be clear.

One point she highlighted was the very nature of fame itself. She explained that maintaining a connection with the general public can often be a complex concept for individuals not within the entertainment sphere to grasp.

The actress also shared insights about her work style, revealing that she tends to adopt a more secluded approach while working on film sets. She confided in Harbour that she adopts a hermit-like behavior during productions, favoring sticking to a familiar routine. When residing in a town, she likes visiting the same modest eatery and cinema, opting for minimal changes in her daily routine.
