- Binance users have been targeted by fake SMS alerts, phishing links, and scammers posing as support staff with malicious QR codes – all trying to get their grubby hands on users’ funds or personal data 🤢.
Another Alert (Because You Can Never Be Too Careful)
Richard Teng, the head honcho at Binance, is reminding users to stay safe online and not be a schmuck 🤪.
Teng is urging users to enable two-factor authentication (2FA), lock down their devices, keep an eye out for scams, and use the safety tools provided by Binance – because, let’s face it, you can’t be too careful 🤷♂️.
Users are thanking Teng for the reminder, because who doesn’t love a good security warning? 🙏
“Thanks for the reminder, Richard! Security is like the secret ingredient in my grandma’s chicken soup – it’s essential! 🍲 Implementing robust security measures like 2FA is crucial for protecting both personal and investment data,” said one user.
A couple of months ago, Teng sounded the alarm on phishing scams, because those scammers are like cockroaches – they just won’t quit 🐜.
“We’re here 24/7, but your vigilance is the first line of defense,” Teng said, because who needs sleep when you’re fighting scammers? 😴
Some of the Attacks (Because Scammers Are Like Bad Jokes)
Earlier this year, some Binance users received a fake SMS claiming their accounts had been accessed from North Korea – because, why not? 🤷♂️.
One user, Joe Zhou, almost fell for it, but luckily, he had a friend who worked at Binance and was like, “Dude, don’t be a schmuck!” 🤪.
Zhou only lost a small amount of money, but it’s still a reminder to be careful out there, folks! 🚨
And then, there were the scammers posing as Binance support staff with malicious QR codes – because who doesn’t love a good QR code? 🤔.
Binance issued a warning about that scam, too, because you can never be too careful – or too paranoid 😂.
