SAW XI Delayed Indefinitely, THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 2 Takes Its Fall 2025 Release Date

It seems that the traditional appearance of Jigsaw in October to scare moviegoers this fall will not happen due to unresolved disputes during filming. Regrettably, it appears that the release date for Saw XI has been postponed indefinitely. However, Lionsgate isn’t abandoning their horror genre offerings for Halloween. Although Saw XI won’t be released as scheduled, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Lionsgate will fill the September 26 slot with a different horror movie, titled The Strangers: Chapter 2 instead.

Billy the Puppet appears to have refuted speculations about the cancellation of ‘SAW XI’ by updating his LinkedIn status to “Employed” and issuing a statement:

“I’ve noticed the rumors. Some say it’s ‘Game Over’. But you all should remember me well enough to understand that the game is never truly over.

Although Jigsaw may not return immediately, it’s safe to say he won’t stay away forever. Given his lucrative career, retiring isn’t really an option for him. Last Monday, Lionsgate posted a statement supposedly from Billy the Puppet, a character often associated with John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, on LinkedIn. Billy’s status is “Employed.” The statement humorously read, “I’ve heard the whispers. They claim it’s ‘Game Over.’ You should know me better than that. The game is never truly over.” With ten films in the Saw series since the 2004 original by James Wan, it’s clear that the game will continue in some shape or form, and Jigsaw will find a way to reappear.

In the process, securing a release during the popular Halloween season indicates Lionsgate’s faith in the continuation of the “The Strangers” franchise, which was initially launched back in 2008. Last year saw the revival of this franchise, with Lionsgate announcing a brand new trilogy for their home invasion horror series. Madelaine Petsch returns to her role following her appearance in “The Strangers: Chapter 1,” which Lionsgate released in May, 2024. This second installment is part of the planned stand-alone “The Strangers” trilogy, and all three movies were filmed consecutively. We eagerly await news about what lies ahead for the upcoming eleventh “Saw” film as “The Strangers” takes its place.
