The show’s been a staple of American comedy for decades, and it was announced back in April that they were expanding across the pond. Now, Saturday Night Live UK has revealed the eleven performers who will make up the very first cast – and I’m eager to see who they are and what they’ll bring to the show!
The first season of Saturday Night Live UK will feature Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young. The show’s initial six episodes will debut on Sky on March 21st. Producer James Longman shared details in a statement released on February 4th.
The UK comedy scene is thriving with amazing new talent, and this cast showcases some of the brightest and most original performers. They’re hilarious and bring a unique energy, and their fantastic chemistry is something we’re really excited to share with audiences.
Viewers of the popular UK game show Taskmaster will likely recognize Sidi, who also appeared in HBO Max’s Starstruck, starting in season 18. Magliano was also a contestant on Taskmaster, finishing as the runner-up in the most recent season, series 20. Both were standouts on their seasons of Taskmaster, so audiences have high expectations for what they’ll bring to SNL UK.
The new show, Saturday Night Live UK, will be made by the teams at Universal Television and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. It will be available to stream on NOW in the UK.
