Sarah Paulson Says THIS Actress Was Originally Meant To Play Margaret In Her Latest Film Hold Your Breath

As a dedicated follower of Sarah Paulson’s illustrious career, I have to say that her performance in “Hold Your Breath” is nothing short of remarkable. Having attended the film’s premiere, I can attest to her raw emotion and dedication during the Q&A session.

Sarah Paulson plays the lead in Hold Your Breath, a new suspenseful movie from Searchlight Pictures, although the role of Margaret was initially proposed to Claire Foy, famously recognized for her work in The Crown. At the premiere held at Santa Monica’s Aero Theater, Paulson participated in a Q&A session on Montana Avenue where she discussed the film, casting decisions, and other related topics.

Paulson plays the character of Margaret, a mother in Oklahoma during the 1930s who battles to shield her family from the destructive dust storms and maintain sanity amidst an eerie influence. In this session, it was disclosed that Foy was initially intended for the role of Margaret by the American Horror Story cast.

She casually remarked, “I’m not sure what stopped her from doing it, but I’m fine with taking it up since I got the chance.” To her surprise, the role turned out to be more demanding than she expected. The actress formed a close bond with her movement coach, Julia Crockett, who became a reliable ally during the process.

She mentioned that she’s adapted a new approach to my work, she added. Paulson went on to extol the film, elaborating on what drew her to the project. “It seemed so intriguing to have a horror or psychological thriller that was rooted in reality,” she stated.

In the midst of all the action in the movie, it tells a deep and emotional tale centered around a mother who’s struggling with the grief of her youngest child’s death. As she spirals into madness due to her fear of being unable to shield her children, this character becomes increasingly fragile. The actress found it challenging to maintain her composure while playing such a role. She humorously admitted that she could identify with someone who’s precariously close to losing control over their state of mind.

Hold Your Breath will be released on Hulu on October 3, 2024.
