As a die-hard fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar and the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise, it’s bittersweet to hear that she won’t be reprising her iconic role as Helen Shivers in the upcoming reboot. However, knowing her best friend, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, is at the helm, I have full confidence that this new chapter will be just as thrilling and engaging as the original.
Sarah Michelle Gellar has quashed speculation about her involvement in the eagerly awaited remake of her classic 1997 movie I Know What You Did Last Summer. Contrary to some reports, Gellar, who played the adored character of Helen Shivers, won’t be reprising her role for the new version. Instead, she hinted at an unspecified role off-camera on the project. For additional updates, keep reading!
Sarah Michelle Gellar recently shared her opinions about the upcoming remake of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” as reported by Variety, during an interview with People magazine. The film is set to be helmed by director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
According to the report, Gellar clarified that she won’t be appearing in the sequel of the horror series as her character, Helen Shivers, perished in the initial movie. In her own words, “I am no longer alive.
The actress openly acknowledged that while not formally credited, she’ll be playing a minor part off-camera. She clarified this by mentioning her close friend, Robinson, who is directing the upcoming sequel, and they humorously refer to her as an unofficial ‘continuity consultant.’
Gellar mentioned, “I often find myself saying things like, ‘That’s not how these characters would act’ or ‘That scenario wouldn’t occur with them.’ So, in a sense, I serve as an unofficial consultant.
In the new project, although she won’t appear as Hellen, her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., is going to reprise his character, Ray Bronson. The actress from “The Do Revenge” expressed her enthusiasm about the production, saying, “Jen has assembled a fantastic cast, and I’m overjoyed for everyone involved.” She also mentioned that she would be there, offering support from behind the camera.
When asked about her intentions to attend the premiere of a film where her husband stars and is written and directed by her best friend, Sarah Michelle Gellar suggested she might do so. She stated, “Given that my husband is in the movie and my best friend wrote and directed it, I think there’s a strong possibility I will be there for the premiere.
