As an ardent admirer of Sarah Hyland, I find her strength and resilience truly inspiring. Her journey from being a victim of domestic violence to becoming a vocal advocate for change is nothing short of remarkable. It’s heartening to see how she uses her platform to shed light on such crucial issues, encouraging others to speak up and seek help.
Sarah Hyland is undeniably an inspiring beacon! Having endured harrowing ordeals of domestic violence, she bravely stands tall and actively speaks out against these issues. Lately, she has opened up about the importance of discussing this topic openly.
The actress received Variety’s Courage Award for her work regarding domestic abuse awareness and animal welfare. Hyland said to the publication, “For thousands of years now, we didn’t talk about it.”
The actress expressed her opinion that the community needed to talk more about the issue, as doing so could provide comfort for those in abusive relationships who might otherwise be isolated by their abusers. She stated that this was crucial to ensure that survivors don’t feel disconnected from the community.
The former star of Modern Family emphasized that discussing this subject matter is crucial for helping those in distress, and she underscored the enduring impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that survivors may experience long after they’ve moved on from their traumatic relationships.
She confided to the source, “It lingers in that hurtful corner of your psyche, where you constantly feel responsible and believe you should have acted differently, such as leaving earlier or speaking up more.
At some point, Hyland admitted he no longer wished to talk about the matter further and instead expressed, “I just want it resolved, and that’s all there is to it.
She mentioned entirely understanding the “disassociation pattern” of the same. She admitted, “I am very guilty about it myself… until something happens where I’m triggered, and I didn’t realize that part of myself had been healed.”
When discussing her struggle with overcoming her traumatic past, she expressed doubt about whether any woman completely recovers from such trauma. She likened it to leaving an indelible mark on a survivor’s soul. The actress emphasized that rather than harboring hate or disregard for the scarred area, one should offer love and understanding instead.
For those unfamiliar, in 2014, she requested a protective order against her ex-boyfriend Matt Prokop, alleging that during their five-year relationship, he subjected her to both physical and verbal abuse, as reported by People magazine.
