Although the film was a huge hit with audiences and remains popular, Sandra Bullock recently shared that she doesn’t remember making it very clearly. Since she hadn’t started a family yet, she relied heavily on her work and colleagues for support during that time.

She described her work as her family, explaining that as a working actor in New York City, she’d take any job and make it work. In a 2021 interview with Netflix, she also shared that this project was especially meaningful because it was her first time as a major producer.

Sandra Bullock felt a strong connection to her character in the movie, seeing it as a way to portray girls who didn’t fit the usual Hollywood stereotype. She explained, “It just felt right to make that film. For girls who didn’t feel like the typical ‘innocent’ type – like I didn’t when I was growing up watching movies – this felt like a role for them.”

Although she playfully apologizes for the impact of Miss Congeniality, there’s another film she truly regrets making. She’s been very open about disliking Speed 2: Cruise Control from 1997, feeling it didn’t live up to the quality of the first Speed movie.

She famously described the situation as illogical and progressing at a glacial pace – like a slow ship heading towards an island – when talking about the shipping accident. Despite still feeling awkward about how things turned out with that one project, her career has been remarkably successful overall.

Sandra Bullock is enjoying a career comeback, with several exciting projects planned. Fans are especially looking forward to Practical Magic 2, which is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 18, 2026.

The next movie will bring back Nicole Kidman and reunite her with the original cast as the enchanting Owens sisters. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest will also return as their popular aunt characters. Susanne Bier is directing, and the film will also star Joey King, Lee Pace, and Maisie Williams.
