Actor Sam Claflin, famous for portraying Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games movies, admits he continues to maintain an emotional connection to the series. In an interview with Variety at Canneseries, Claflin stated, “I’m a dedicated fan and admirer of the universe [author] Suzanne Collins crafted, and I can’t help but feel bonded to it.

Apart from expressing his delight, he additionally discussed his appreciation for the 2023 prequel, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. “It was a new perspective with a fresh cast, and they did an exceptional job,” he stated. Claflin is currently anticipating the upcoming prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping. “I’ve heard the ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ book is even more impressive.

The Hunger Games: Dawn at the Reaping” – This upcoming movie, scheduled for release in November 2026, delves into the past, specifically 24 years before the initial trilogy, and offers a closer look at Haymitch Abernathy’s younger days.

At present, Claflin is advertising The Count of Monte Cristo, an impressive series helmed by Bille August, where he embodies Edmond Dantes – a man falsely incarcerated who later plots vengeance upon his release. He expressed that the process was incredibly exhausting, mostly due to the fact that the series was shot in reverse timeline sequence.

Claflin expressed his fondness for romantic roles, mentioning that despite thinking himself inept at them, he cherishes the sensation of being smitten and feels it’s crucial to choose projects with genuine enthusiasm.

Looking back at his involvement with The Hunger Games films, he remarked that it’s been more than ten years since they wrapped up production on the final movie, and it’s amazing to think about all the experiences he’s had since then.
