As a longtime fan of the merciless and sarcastic anti-hero Deadpool, I’ve been through the highs and lows of his chaotic adventures. The thrilling partnership between Deadpool and Wolverine this year was nothing short of spectacular, leaving us all eagerly waiting for more of our favorite chimichanga enthusiast.
As a die-hard gamer, I can’t help but feel the thrill when I think about Deadpool and Wolverine dominating the box office and streaming platforms this year! The burning question on everyone’s lips is “When will we get another dose of Wade Wilson on the big screen?” Frankly, I don’t have the answer. Remember, it’s been six years since the last Deadpool movie hit theaters. But when he does return, there’s one thing we can count on: Ryan Reynolds, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (as reported by Comic Book Movie), has made it clear that Deadpool will never be a part of either the X-Men or the Avengers. Here’s his take on it:
One way to rephrase that in natural and easy-to-read language could be: “What I admire most about Deadpool is his fandom. His eagerness and desire to belong to a team are truly heartwarming to me. It’s his ongoing dream that makes him so appealing. However, I don’t see him fitting well as an Avenger or an X-Man. If he were to join either team, it would be the end of something special.
You shouldn’t anticipate Deadpool, the chatty one, wearing a buckle adorned with an “X” or “A”. Such designs appear more in Marvel Comics. However, even though Deadpool won’t align with any team, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Ryan Reynolds won’t feature in a film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Secret Wars”. When asked about potentially starring in those films, he simply said:
Contrarily, I believe Deadpool thrives best when he’s among the X-Men and Avengers, yet he should remain on the outskirts. His deepest aspiration is to be embraced and respected. However, that acceptance always eludes him. His strategy of masking insecurities with humor serves him well as it glosses over his numerous shortcomings. Should he ever become an Avenger or X-Man, it would mark the conclusion of his journey.
It’s quite probable that Deadpool will encounter other Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes (possibly including the X-Men too?) in an impending film or even two. But remember, he won’t be setting up a locker labeled “Wade” at Avengers Headquarters or the X-Mansion anytime soon.
