As an ardent fan of action-packed movies, I wholeheartedly echo Ryan Reynolds‘ sentiments about the unsung heroes of our beloved industry – the stunt teams! Having grown up watching Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, and Charlie Chaplin perform death-defying feats while simultaneously crafting captivating narratives, it warms my heart to see such a renowned actor like Reynolds champion for their recognition.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always keeping my finger on the pulse of the entertainment industry, and I have to say, I was thrilled to see Ryan Reynolds, at 47 years young, taking to social media to applaud the remarkable stunt team behind Deadpool & Wolverine. He rightly expressed his hopes for an Oscars category that would give due recognition to these unsung heroes. After all, their incredible work is a vital part of bringing our favorite action-packed movies to life, and it’s high time they were celebrated!
“It’s unfortunate that stunt work isn’t recognized at the Oscars, but I hope that may change in the future. This year alone, numerous films have excelled in this area… Just like Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, and Charlie Chaplin, who were both performers and filmmakers, they told their stories not just through dialogue, but with their entire bodies.”
In his post, Reynolds acknowledged and praised his entire stunt team from the film, stating they surpassed expectations with their scenes. Additionally, he humorously mentioned scribbling their names in his notebook because he’s so impressed by their performances.
“The stunt crew for #DeadpoolAndWolverine exceeded expectations. Many of them are longtime colleagues, and I’ll continue to commemorate their names in my Heidi Notebooks, putting heart-shaped dots on every ‘i.'” He said.
Later on, he praised his stand-in, Alex Kyshkovych, who has been performing the role since the initial Deadpool movie. “Not only does he stand in for me, he’s also the Fight Coordinator. I’d gladly endure a sledgehammer to the face for Alex. Or to put it another way, I’d ask Alex to take a sledgehammer to the face on my behalf, for Alex,” the actor expressed.
Continuing his words of affirmation, Reynolds applauded the movie’s second unit director and supervising stunt coordinator, saying that his skills made the entire film better. He then went on to mention co-actor Hugh Jackman’s stuntman Daniel Stevens, admiring his prowess.
“It’s mind-boggling how much Hugh Jackman does himself. But Daniel Stevens steps in for the truly dangerous stuff. He’s been ‘Wolverining’ for a long time. As we know, ‘Wolverining’ is HARD. I would ask Alex to eat the crab salad I left on the dashboard for three straight days for Dan. Huge shoutout to Andy Lister for bringing a new and insane Wolvie gear to the Deadpool Corps fight as well,” he wrote.
Here’s my take on paraphrasing it:
The film featuring Deadpool and Wolverine marks the 34th addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, it also boasts talents like Emma Corrin, Rob Delaney, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Aaron Stanford, and Leslie Uggams. Shawn Levy directed this action-packed comedy that hit theaters on July 26th and has grossed over $1 billion globally.
