Ryan Gosling Joins Star Wars

At Star Wars Celebration Japan, it was revealed by both Disney and Lucasfilm that the Shawn Levy-directed Star Wars film will be released on its scheduled date and carries the title they’ve chosen for it.

Ryan Gosling is also confirmed to be joining a galaxy far, far away.

After wrapping up Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine, Shawn Levy unexpectedly showed up at the Mandalorian and Grogu panel during Star Wars Celebration Japan. There, he shared the stage with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni to announce his upcoming Star Wars project. The event was also attended by Ryan Gosling. The official title is Star Wars: Starfighter.

When is the release date?

Star Wars: Starfighter will be released in theaters on May 28, 2027, which is Memorial Day weekend.

When does filming start?

The film will go into production starting this fall.

Approximately five years following the occurrences in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”, Gosling takes on the role of an entirely fresh character hinted at by the actor’s on-stage unveiling.
