Ryan Coogler’s ‘The X-Files’ Reboot Reportedly Finds Its Lead Star

It looks like Ryan Coogler’s planned take on *The X-Files* is gaining momentum, and a major actor might be joining the project.

Danielle Deadwyler is reportedly being considered for a leading role in the new project, according to Nexus Point News. She would play one of the investigators, working alongside a male partner to solve unusual and puzzling cases.

Ryan Coogler has been working on a fresh version of *The X-Files* since 2023. He’s likely to write the first episode, also produce the show, and potentially direct it. Chris Carter, who created the original series, has been collaborating with Coogler on the project.

The popular series *The X-Files* originally ran from 1993 to 2002, and then returned for two additional seasons in 2016. Throughout its run, the show produced 218 episodes and also spawned two movies: *The X-Files* (1998) and *The X-Files: I Want to Believe* (2008).

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson became famous playing Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, a duo who solved mysteries involving the unexplained and shadowy government secrets.

Ryan Coogler, the director behind popular films like *Black Panther* and *Creed*, is thrilled to be updating *The X-Files* for modern audiences. He announced in April that this reboot will be his next film, following the completion of *Sinners*.

Chris Carter, the creator of the original series, has confirmed he’s not directly producing this new installment, but he expressed his support for director Ryan Coogler’s plans, saying he’s confident the franchise is in capable hands. Coogler also revealed he spoke with Gillian Anderson about the reboot, suggesting it might connect to the original storylines.

Before the current project, Fox had previously attempted to bring back *The X-Files* with an animated comedy spinoff called *The X-Files: Albuquerque*. However, those plans were cancelled in March 2023.
