Russell Brand has publicly discussed his former wife, Katy Perry’s, new relationship, and his statements are now being widely reported.
The comedian talked about the issue during a performance at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix on December 18th.
In his speech, Brand mentioned Perry and rumors of a past relationship with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Videos from the event show he spoke about it frankly.
Russell Brand told the audience he still loves Katy Perry, whom he was once married to. He seemed unbothered by her relationship with Orlando Bloom, but expressed strong disapproval of Justin Trudeau, calling him a ‘globalist stooge’ and objecting to being associated with him.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand were married for two years, from 2010 to 2012. Brand initiated the divorce, and Perry later shared in her documentary that she learned about it right before a concert. They have been separated for over ten years.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom started dating after Perry’s divorce. They first connected in 2016 and got engaged three years later, in 2019. They welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, in August 2020. After nine years together, the couple ended their engagement in June 2025.
Katy Perry is making headlines again, this time because of reports she’s dating Justin Trudeau. Rumors started in July when they were spotted together in Montreal, and a source told PEOPLE magazine they seemed to hit it off immediately.
According to a source, the two are attracted to each other, but it’s too early to tell if it will become a serious relationship. She’s currently traveling the world, and he’s adjusting to life after leaving his position as Canada’s prime minister.
The source also mentioned that music is just one of the many things they enjoy sharing with each other. They also described both individuals as idealists who share a common desire to positively impact the world.
Perry and Trudeau were first seen together publicly in October at a cabaret show in Paris, where they celebrated Perry’s birthday.
