Rumored ‘Supergirl’ Synopsis Surfaces Ahead of Trailer Release

Fans are eagerly anticipating the first trailer for the new Supergirl movie from DC Studios. According to Feature First, they’ve received a potential official storyline for the film, though it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

The new movie will feature Milly Alcock as Supergirl, playing Kara Zor-El. According to a summary of the plot, Kara will be forced to work with an unexpected ally when a dangerous new enemy appears. Together, they’ll go on a huge adventure through space, where Kara will have to face her past and decide what kind of hero she wants to be, all while seeking both revenge and justice.

The film stars Alcock alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa. Peter Safran and James Gunn of DC Studios produced the movie.

Supergirl tells the story of Kara Zor-El’s journey across the galaxy, fueled by a desire for revenge. It’s the second movie in the recently relaunched DC Universe. Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, the film was shot in England and Scotland between January and May, with some scenes filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

A Supergirl movie has been in the works for a while, originally starting development as part of the DC Extended Universe back in 2018. The character made her first appearance in the 2023 film The Flash, portrayed by Sasha Calle.

After James Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of DC Studios in 2022, the movie’s plans were reworked. An official announcement came in January 2023, revealing the film would be based on the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Milly Alcock was cast in January 2024, followed by Jack Quaid in May, and production began shortly after.

The new Supergirl movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 26, 2026. It will be one of the first films in the first chapter of the DC Universe, titled ‘Gods and Monsters’.
