I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected as the newest Pope, Robert Francis Prevost! This momentous choice by the Conclave was officially revealed on Thursday, May 8th. As the first American to lead the Church in the history of Rome, I’m humbled and excited for this incredible journey ahead.
As per The Pillar’s account, Francis Prevost spent his childhood in Chicago, born into a family where the members were priests by profession. His mother, Mildred Martínez, hailed from Spanish lineage, whereas his father traced his roots to both France and Italy. Growing up in a multicultural household, young Francis Prevost developed an early interest in the priesthood.
