As a seasoned Marvel fan with decades of comic book adventures under my belt, I must say the upcoming “WHAT IF… GALACTUS” one-shots are truly a tantalizing prospect. The idea of alternate realities where characters we know and love step into the cosmic role of Galactus‘ Herald is simply mind-boggling!
Instead of the Silver Surfer being Galactus’ most renowned messenger, consider if Galactus selected someone else for the cosmic duty. How about Rogue, Gambit, Moon Knight, Hulk, or Ghost-Spider stepping into this role? The Multiverse offers infinite possibilities, and these scenarios will be delved into in the upcoming WHAT IF… GALACTUS one-shots, available at comic shops starting January.
In the comic series “What If… Galactus: Galactus Transformed Rogue” by Ann Nocenti and Stephen Byrne, Rogue encounters the wreckage of the Silver Surfer and takes on his cosmic powers, blending them with her mutant abilities in a transformation. Simultaneously, in another story titled “What If… Galactus: Galactus Transformed Gambit” by Josh Trujillo and Manuel Garcia, Gambit is selected as a Herald for Galactus. However, his reluctance to serve the cosmic entity results in a perilous confrontation with his new superior.
In a different sector of the Multiverse, Galactus overpowers Khonshu, forcing Moon Knight (Marc Spector) to serve the Devourer in the comic series titled “WHAT IF… GALACTUS: GALACTUS TRANSFORMS MOON KNIGHT” penned by Alex Segura, with art contributions from Scot Eaton and Cam Smith. Meanwhile, in another comic book titled “WHAT IF… GALACTUS: GALACTUS TRANSFORMS HULK“, written by Mat Groom and illustrated by Lan Medina, the new cosmic responsibilities of Bruce Banner place him against Iron Man in an intense confrontation.
In the comic book “WHAT IF… GALACTUS: GALACTUS TRANSFORMED SPIDER-GWEN” by Kalinda Vazquez and Daniel Picciotto, an enhanced Gwen Stacy soars through the skies for the first time in her cosmic endeavor, where she encounters a dragon and engages in battle.
