MGM+ has released a preview for its new dramatic series called “Robin Hood,” with Sean Bean, known from “Game of Thrones,” portraying the Sheriff of Nottingham.
The ten-episode sequence commences on Sunday, November 2nd, launching with a double episode at 9 PM Eastern and Pacific Time. Subsequent episodes will be broadcast each week up until December 28th.
A Modern Take on Robin Hood
In a fresh take on the old legend, Robin Hood explores both historical accuracy and rich character development. The narrative revolves around Rob, the son of a Saxon forester, and Marian, daughter to a Norman lord. Post the Norman conquest of England, their paths cross as they strive for justice and liberty together.
In this scenario, Rob assumes command over a group of rebellious outlaws, whereas Marian strategically navigates the intricate world of court politics to challenge royal malpractices. Together, their actions fuel the struggle towards achieving tranquility across the realm.
The Cast
The main characters in Robin Hood are played by Jack Patten as Robin and Lauren McQueen as Marian, while Sean Bean portrays the Sheriff of Nottingham.
In this adaptation, Lydia Peckham takes on the role of Priscilla from Nottingham, Steven Waddington portrays the Earl of Huntingdon, and Connie Nielsen, known for her part in Wonder Woman, enters the series as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Behind the Scenes
The television series is produced by Lionsgate TV, with John Glenn serving as the showrunner. Jonathan English takes on directing duties, while also acting as an executive producer. Glenn and Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures are also involved in the executive production.
