After years of development, Matt Reeves’ *The Batman – Part II* is set to begin filming in early 2026. While it won’t be directly connected to James Gunn’s new DC Universe, it’s still a DC Studios project and will be released in the same year as the upcoming *Man of Tomorrow* Superman film. This marks the first time ever that both Superman and Batman will each have their own solo movies released in the same year. Reeves recently announced that the script is finished, and in an interview with *Slashfilm*, he shared that Robert Pattinson has already read it. They’ve also taken significant steps to keep the plot details under wraps.
We kept the script extremely secure, locking it in a special, coded pouch. Robert Pattinson happened to be in New York, and security was very tight. We have complete faith in Rob; he’s incredibly reliable.
It’s good if the director feels confident letting the main actor read the script! However, with big, eagerly awaited movies – especially those based on popular stories – studios often go to great lengths to keep the plot under wraps. They might use special paper that can’t be copied with scanners, or even have security guards present while actors are reading. It’s like something out of a spy movie, but instead of protecting world-saving secrets, they’re guarding details about characters and plot points in a comic book film.
It’s not surprising that people are eager to learn about the villains and other characters in the next Batman movie. Despite studios’ best efforts to keep scripts secret, major plot details almost always become public weeks or even months before a film’s release. We can expect to find out key information about *The Batman – Part II* long before it arrives in theaters, no matter how carefully the script is guarded. Currently, the movie is scheduled to be released on October 7, 2027.
