Robert Pattinson secretly lent his voice to the new film “Marty Supreme.” Director Josh Safdie recently shared that Pattinson voices the umpire in a British Open ping pong match featured in the movie.
Safdie revealed a fun secret about the film: the voice of the commentator and umpire is actually actor Robert Pattinson. It’s a hidden detail most people haven’t noticed. Safdie explained that Pattinson came to watch some filming, and since the director didn’t know any British actors, he asked Pattinson to do the voice work.

Robert Pattinson makes a brief appearance in the film after previously working with the directors on their 2017 thriller, “Good Time,” where he played the role of a criminal attempting to rescue his brother from the police. This time, Pattinson isn’t seen on screen; instead, he lends his voice as the announcer during a high-stakes match involving Timothée Chalamet’s character, Marty Mauser.
This discovery also explains a surprising moment from a previous interview with Vanity Fair. When asked if he’d like to work with the Safdies again, Pattinson said he would, but a lie detector test indicated he was being untruthful. He found the result amusing, calling it “crazy.” It appears he was likely hiding his involvement in the project at that time.
Safdie also spoke about Timothée Chalamet, who stars in “Marty Supreme.” He remembered being immediately struck by Chalamet when they met at a party after the film “Good Time.” Safdie described Chalamet as a captivating and dedicated actor, a true “movie star.” He was so inspired by Chalamet’s energy and perspective that he actually wrote the script with him in mind.
I’m so excited to hear Robert Pattinson is going to be in “Dune: Part Three” with Timothée Chalamet – he’s playing the villain, Scytale! And it sounds like directing really takes it out of the Safdie brothers. Josh Safdie was saying how drained he feels after finishing a film, like he needs to completely recharge before even thinking about the next one. He put it perfectly – “After each film, I’ve got no more gas left in the car. So I’ve got to like, go find a gas station, you know?”
