Robert Pattinson shared a surprising story about a peculiar smell he used to have. He told GQ Magazine that he once genuinely believed he smelled like a box of crayons, but that scent has since faded as his body changed.
Robert Pattinson recently told GQ he believes his body chemistry has shifted, which he finds odd. He used to have a remarkably strong, and initially unpleasant, natural scent that eventually smelled exactly like crayons. He attributes this change to the fact that people’s natural scents often become less noticeable with age.
The actor playfully wondered why his natural scent had changed so dramatically, suggesting our bodies might go through a seven-year cycle of smells. He joked, “Maybe I smelled like crayons when one version of myself faded away, and when a new one emerged, the scent was fainter.” He now says he can’t smell anything on himself, even after exercising intensely.
He suspects a previous COVID infection may be affecting his sense of smell. He explained to the magazine that he initially didn’t notice he’d lost it, realizing only months later. He believes it’s returned, though he’s not entirely sure.
Robert Pattinson has been focused on his acting work, in addition to recent discussions about his cologne. He recently promoted his film Die My Love, featuring Jennifer Lawrence, which was released in late 2025. He’ll also be appearing in The Drama alongside Zendaya this April, and in Christopher Nolan’s new film, The Odyssey, this July.
Robert Pattinson is expanding into major film franchises. He’s been cast as the villain Scytale in Dune: Part Three, scheduled to come out in December. He’s also getting ready to reprise his role as Batman in The Batman Part II, with filming beginning this spring and a planned release in 2027. Outside of his career, Pattinson is happily embracing fatherhood with his partner, Suki Waterhouse, and their daughter.
Robert Pattinson’s experience highlights how easily our bodies change in unexpected ways. It’s relatable and charming to hear a celebrity discuss something so personal, like his natural scent.
