Viewers immediately started discussing the new movie, wondering if the same actor might play multiple characters or if the story could involve different universes. Many also speculated that Iron Man could return in future Marvel films, possibly even in the ‘Secret Wars’ project.
Downey has hinted at playing Doctor Doom before. He’s shared several posts related to the character this year, like a DOOM comic he jokingly called a work essential, a Valentine’s Day picture with a Doom mask and chocolates, and a Mother’s Day photo where his wife dressed as Sue Storm and his mother was knitting a Doctor Doom costume.
The next Avengers movie, titled ‘Doomsday’ and directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is set to come out on December 18, 2026. The film will star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. According to Collider, Marvel is planning to release the first trailer on December 19th, before showings of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’.
