Although rumors of a Star Wars and Marvel team-up have been debunked, people are still talking about it.
Now, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld says there’s more to the story.
Posting on X, Liefeld claimed Marvel has absolutely taken pitches for a Star Wars/Marvel team-up.
According to Rob Liefeld, Marvel has definitely considered combining Star Wars and Marvel characters in a crossover project. He says this isn’t a secret and that information about it has leaked. With the 50th anniversary of Star Wars coming up next year, he suggests keeping an eye on the possibility, though getting approval from Lucasfilm is the main hurdle.
That’s a pretty direct statement.
Just so everyone knows, Marvel has definitely considered ideas for team-ups between Star Wars and Marvel characters. This isn’t a secret – information always leaks. With the 50th anniversary of Star Wars coming up next year, it’s something to watch for. The main challenge is getting Lucasfilm to sign off on the project.

Marvel Has Taken Pitches?
Rob Liefeld hinted that although The Hollywood Reporter debunked the rumor of a team-up with Mark Millar, the possibility isn’t completely off the table.
Marvel Comics creates Star Wars comics with permission from Lucasfilm. Both Marvel and Lucasfilm are owned by The Walt Disney Company.
So from a corporate standpoint, a crossover isn’t impossible.
The hurdle, according to Liefeld, is approval from Lucasfilm.
While Marvel Studios is open to new ideas from within the company, the official Star Wars storyline is very carefully managed. Combining the worlds of Jedi and Avengers would need approval from many different people at both companies.

Star Wars 50th Anniversary In 2027
Liefeld also pointed to timing.
The first Star Wars movie came out in 1977, so the series will reach a major milestone – its 50th anniversary – in 2027. These big anniversaries usually mean extra content like special books, larger-than-usual comics, and unexpected new projects.
That doesn’t confirm a crossover is coming. But it does explain why pitches may be floating around.
