But the real excitement, it seems, is over this new R2 vehicle. Smaller, cheaper, they say. Starts at $45,000, which, in these times, is practically a bargain. The average motorcar costs near $49,000, so Rivian is hopin’ to catch the common man’s eye. A clever idea, if it works.
Now, I’m not sayin’ this R2 is a sure thing. It’s still a risk, holdin’ stock in a company that’s tryin’ to reinvent the wheel. But if they can get these R2s rollin’ off the assembly line and folks actually want to buy ’em, well, they might just outpace the market this year. But don’t go bettin’ the farm on it. There’s bound to be a few bumps in the road.
It’s a gamble, plain and simple. A shiny new contraption, a hopeful forecast, and a whole lot of uncertainty. And in my experience, uncertainty is a mighty expensive commodity.
