Riley Keough discusses how Lisa Marie Presley worked hard to shield her from the contentious issues surrounding Michael Jackson, specifically those related to accusations of sexual misconduct.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share this intriguing piece of information: Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of the legendary Elvis Presley, recently disclosed that during their marriage from 1994 to 1996, her mother shielded her from the tumultuous scandals swirling around Michael Jackson. It’s fascinating stuff, don’t you think?
During a January 15 episode of Call Her Daddy podcast, Keough disclosed that Presley had concealed the sexual abuse accusations against Jackson from their children. Now at age 35, Keough admitted she was unaware of these allegations during her youth and did not inquire about them as an adult.
She mentioned that nothing was ever shared with her about the topic, and it’s not something she had ever inquired about as a grown-up. She feels it simply wasn’t relevant or important enough to consider on her own. It didn’t occur to her to question it.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put myself in their shoes and say, “I can only imagine the sorrow that filled my father when he read the headlines. I bet there were words shared between him and my mother, private conversations that we were never privy to.
She acknowledged that her upbringing, characterized by a non-confrontational parenting style, kept her shielded from conflicts and sensitive topics, as stated, “My parents’ approach to parenting was essentially, ‘We avoid arguments in front of the children. We never discuss anything in their presence. We were oblivious to any rumors.’
In my account from my posthumously published memoir, “From Here to the Great Unknown,” I share my personal journey, which includes my marriage to Danny Keough. Our union lasted from 1988 until a significant moment in Las Vegas when Michael Jackson confessed his love for me and proposed. He wanted to make me his wife, an offer that marked a new chapter in my life.
Keough often thought back to the fact that her mother’s romantic connections were genuine, yet their endings caused her deep pain as a young girl. She frequently remembered herself weeping and feeling enraged whenever Presley split from someone, even during her marriage to Jackson.
In 2023, Lisa Marie Presley passed away at the age of 54, just like Michael Jackson did in 2009 at the age of 50. In her memoir, Presley noted that Jackson was an engaging talker who left a lasting impression on her life.
