Rigetti: Another Quantum Leap of Faith (and My Portfolio’s Pain)

So, Rigetti. RGTI. It had a year, alright? A year. Up, down, sideways… it was like watching someone try to parallel park a yacht. And now, January. Down 18%. Of course. You know, I’m a dividend hunter. I like income. Steady, predictable income. Not this… this quantum casino.

And the thing is, it’s not even the loss itself. It’s the principle. They delay this “Cepheus-1-108Q” thing. A delay! Like I don’t have a schedule? Like my portfolio is just some sort of abstract concept? They send out a press release, all apologetic, talking about “kinks.” Kinks! What kind of professional uses the word “kinks” when discussing multi-billion-dollar technology? It’s insulting, frankly.

IonQ’s Manufacturing Play – Because Apparently, Doing Things In-House Is Radical

And then, just to add insult to injury, IonQ goes and buys a manufacturing facility. A manufacturing facility! Like Rigetti wasn’t already trying to do that? It’s just…competitive. And unnecessary. They’re all building these things, and for what? So some computer can solve a problem I don’t even understand? I want a dividend, not a solution to the traveling salesman problem!

Microsoft and AI: Spending Money to Make More Problems

And then you have Microsoft. Oh, Microsoft. They’re throwing money at AI like it’s going out of style. Seventy-two billion dollars! Through half the year! What are they doing with all that money? And the worst part? It’s not even translating into growth. They’re spending all this money, and their cloud growth is…fine. Just fine. It’s like they’re trying to impress me, but all they’re doing is making me anxious. It’s the principle of the thing. They’re supposed to be efficient!

They have these earnings calls, and they talk about “synergies” and “innovation.” It’s just jargon. It’s all jargon. And they expect me to believe it? They expect me to invest my hard-earned money in this…this technological shell game?

The Bottom Line: A Waste of My Time (and Capital)

Look, Rigetti is a speculative play. A very speculative play. If quantum computing becomes the next big thing, maybe, just maybe, it’ll be worth something. But I’m not holding my breath. I’m a dividend hunter, remember? I want income. I want stability. I want a company that understands the value of a consistent payout. This? This is just a headache. And honestly, I have enough of those already. I’m telling you, stay away. Just…stay away. You’ll thank me later. And for the love of all that is holy, someone please explain to me what a “qubit” even is.
