Ricky Gervais has weighed in on Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, offering his typically direct and honest opinion.
Gervais’ Reaction
Following reports that ABC suspended *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* due to host Jimmy Kimmel’s contentious remarks about Charlie Kirk, Ricky Gervais shared a GIF on X (formerly Twitter) of himself telling someone to “SHUT UP.”

This clip comes from Ricky Gervais’ famous 2020 Golden Globes speech, where he made pointed jokes at the expense of powerful figures in Hollywood, including references to Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, Prince Andrew, and Disney.
A clip of Gervais telling celebrities to stop making political speeches is going viral, with many fans now saying he’d be a great replacement for Jimmy Kimmel as the awards show host.
Honestly, hearing him talk like that was just… chilling. He basically said it was like working for Harvey Weinstein, and then kept repeating, ‘You did it. I didn’t. You did it,’ and just told everyone to be quiet. It was a really disturbing moment, and I still can’t get it out of my head.

Kimmel’s Controversial Remarks
Jimmy Kimmel’s show was temporarily suspended after he used his monologue on September 15th to criticize conservatives following the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Kimmel claimed that supporters of Donald Trump were attempting to downplay the shooter’s political beliefs. However, it was later discovered that the shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, held leftist views and was in a relationship with a man who is transitioning to male.
ABC stated that *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* would be taken off the air for an unspecified amount of time. Several major television station groups, including Nexstar and Sinclair, then replaced the show with other programs, some of which included specials honoring Kirk Douglas.
Those wankers don’t listen. 😂

Fans Push for Gervais as Replacement
Online, many people are saying Ricky Gervais would offer a much different hosting style than Jimmy Kimmel, who often leans into political commentary. They believe Gervais, known for his outspoken criticism of Hollywood trends in 2020, would be an ideal choice given the current debate surrounding the Oscars.
People are sharing posts online asking ABC to hire Gervais and give him a late-night talk show, believing his unique and often blunt style of comedy would be a good fit.
