Rick And Morty The Anime Season 2: Director Teases Sequel Plans

As a seasoned lifestyle expert with a penchant for all things pop culture, I must say that the debut of Rick and Morty: The Anime has truly piqued my interest. Having delved into various animated series throughout my years, I can confidently assert that this unique blend of science fiction, humor, and anime aesthetics is a refreshing addition to the genre.

In August 2024, the franchise introduced a new animated sitcom called “Rick and Morty: The Anime.” This spin-off series falls within the timeline between the fifth and sixth seasons of the original show, during which portal travel is suspended. “Rick and Morty: The Anime” marks the third series in the franchise, having been developed by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon.

Prior to its debut, Director and writer Takashi Sano shared with ComicBook his abundance of concepts if a follow-up were to materialize. Earlier, Jason DeMarco, the Senior VP at Adult Swim, hinted that a sequel could happen depending on the show’s response. The series made its debut on Adult Swim on August 16, 2024.

According to executive producer Joseph Chou, Sano expresses a desire for more episodes in the series. Chou explained, “He has many ideas he wishes to explore if another one is made. The challenge isn’t deciding what to create; it’s choosing what to focus on among all the possibilities. It’s a struggle of freedom – what should I make out of all the things I want to do?”

Chou expresses his optimism that fans will enjoy it and they might have another chance to collaborate on the show. As for Rick and Morty: The Anime, a 10-episode series is planned, but there’s no word yet about a follow-up. Maybe following the finale on October 18, 2024, we could hear something about a second season.

Prior to the main show’s premiere, a total of 5 short films were unveiled from the years 2020 to 2021. In “Rick and Morty: The Anime,” Yohei Tadano and Keisuke Chiba reprise their roles from the Japanese-dubbed version of the original series, whereas none of the English dub’s cast are returning for this adaptation.

Hey there, fellow fans! In the thrilling debut of “Rick and Morty: The Anime,” I found myself on the edge of my seat as a fake Rick was nabbed by the Galactic Federation, snatched for his groundbreaking invention capable of decreasing time decay and reversing the current of time itself. Simultaneously, the genuine Rick touched down to collect Morty, only for Summer to abruptly terminate Morty’s simulation.
