Between its fifth and sixth regular seasons, the anime adaptation of Rick and Morty – titled Rick and Morty: The Anime – is helmed by showrunner Takashi Sano and jointly produced by Studio Deen, Sola Entertainment, and Telecom Animation Film for Adult Swim. In episode 2, an entirely new aspect of the multiverse is unveiled.

As a devoted follower, I found myself abducted by the Galactic Federation in the opening act, all for possessing a groundbreaking device capable of decreasing time disorder and rewinding temporal currents. Meanwhile, Summer abruptly ended Morty’s virtual reality escapade. The authentic Rick, however, was thrust back into his own universe, but to my dismay, I discovered myself trapped in an entirely new cosmos.

In Episode 2 of Rick and Morty: The Anime, titled “Fighting Mother”, we find Rick finding himself trapped in a temporal conundrum upon his return journey, landing him in a universe where Morty is yet to grow up. As he navigates this world, Rick stumbles across a Rick with long hair, who identifies the original Rick as Rick C-137, the one infamous for stealing the gadget from the Smith family.

As a devoted disciple, I take it upon myself to address the other me, leveling allegations about the creation of the space entropy device that has significantly impacted Beth’s life and her union with Jerry. Simultaneously, Space Beth manages to infiltrate the heart of the Galactic Federation fleet’s flagship, only to be apprehended by Tammy—now enhanced with cyborg elements reminiscent of Phoenixperson.

In a clash, Ricks number one and two go head-to-head over the portal gun. At the same time, Space Beth and Tammy engage in an intense skirmish, with Space Beth ultimately prevailing. Though she won, Space Beth chooses to let Tammy go free, who then flees from the vessel. It appears that they will meet again, as there are still matters unresolved for Tammy.

In a series of dimensional journeys, two characters named Rick, hailing from different realms, clash as they debate the intricacies of a time disorder device. As the story unfolds, it is disclosed that Rick C-137 employed this device to safeguard Beth of this universe, while his own Beth and Diane perished. Amidst their fierce combat, the Ricks exchange such powerful blows that they are propelled back into their original universe.
