From 2013 onwards, Rick and Morty on Adult Swim has been weaving a humorous and science fiction tale across numerous dimensions with seemingly endless possibilities. However, it’s only in the year 2025 that this series has delivered an unexpected twist – a spinoff! During the Rick and Morty panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the audience was taken aback when Keith David made an appearance on stage. As President Curtis in the show for numerous seasons, David is now stepping into the spotlight with his own series, which has been fittingly named President Curtis.
In the upcoming Adult Swim series, co-created by Executive Producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano from “Rick and Morty”, David is set to return as President Andre Curtis in his familiar role. Alongside him, Stephanie Beatriz known for her work on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and Jim Rash recognized from “Community”, also join the cast.
David expressed that President Curtis has always been a joy to work with. Delving deeper into his world in this upcoming series is like a dream come true for him. He’s eager for fans to witness the mischief Curtis causes when Rick isn’t around, stealing all the attention.
In the new series, we follow President Curtis and his quirky team as they confront the challenges that Rick Sanchez would typically ignore – things like interdimensional negotiations, paranormal investigations, and solving mysterious occurrences.
For a long time, it’s evident that Harmon harbors a deep admiration for Keith David. Not only has he lent his voice to both President Curtis (and Reverse Giraffe) on “Rick and Morty,” but he also portrayed Elroy Patashnik during the last season of “Community.” Additionally, he was the narrator for the “Pillows and Blankets” episode.
The scheduled arrival date for the movie “President Curtis” hasn’t been announced, but we can’t wait to witness some intriguing political maneuvers when it finally arrives.
